Years ago the Wesleyan Methodist Conference assigned a new minister to our church in Northville. We eagerly awaited his arrival with his family of several girls and boys. We were especially excited when we heard they were bringing an extra little girl who had recently lost her mother.
When Reverend Gugin and family finally came we were anxious to "sort out" the new little girl from the others. We were told she was the "dark haired pretty one." She was definitely the small petite "pretty one." Her name was Juanita Maines.
Juanita lived with several different families near Northville attending school and growing up She did not seem to develop a "sad sorry for her self" attitude, though she never had a settled home life. During her freshman year in High School, she lived with my folks, and as you know later, married my brother Kenneth. She became the mother of my dear niece Connie and nephew Wesley.
Juanita loved little children. I know she loved her two daughters, Vikky and Sue, she subsequently had with second her husband.
My love and condolences to all of her family.
