Juana C. DeCamp's Obituary
Juana "Granny" DeCamp was born on December 25, 1910 in Daraga Albay, Philippines. She was the mother of Luz Villagracia, mother-in-law to Lauro Villagracia, Sr.; grandmother to Virgilio (Gloria), Larry (Aurora), Albert (Nanette), Josie (Pedro), Rebecca (Junior), Charlie (Adelle) and Richard; great-grandmother to sixteen and great-great grandmother to five. Granny was an independent woman with an adventurous spirit who loved to travel to Reno, Hawaii & Mexico, enjoyed working in her yard and was an avid bingo player. As the matriarch of the family Granny leaves behind a legacy of strength and perseverance both of which allowed her to overcome the challenges of life in a new country, the loss of loved ones and the ability to enjoy all that life had to offer. The lives of her family and all those who knew her are more colorful because of her. During her last hours of life Granny was blessed to be surrounded by her family and caregivers (Maylynn, Apple & Eddie). In the early morning on August 28, 2008 Granny took her last breath allowing her to reunite with her husband Howard DeCamp, longtime companion Ralph, nephew Albert, great-granddaughter Christine and her dog Joe. Granny will be missed. A viewing and rosary will be held Saturday (8/30), Sunday (8/31) & Monday (9/1) from 3:00pm to 8:00pm at the Celebration of Life Center at Mountain View Funeral Home in Lakewood. On Tuesday, September 2nd at 11:00am a memorial service will take place at St. Frances Cabrini Church.
