Joyce Ann Attebery's Obituary
Born in Cortez, CO, Nov. 25, 1942, Joyce Ann Attebery was 76 years old when she passed on May 14, 2019 in Tacoma, WA. Having lived in Colorado the majority of her adult life, Joyce relocated from Denver to Tacoma in Nov. 2013. Once in Tacoma she began establishing a strong community of friends through South Sound MeetUp and the WomynRock dances. Joyce loved to dance! This new found community of friends was an important part of her social activities and she looked forward to every event.
Joyce was the adopted daughter of Mary Vivian Stallings and Walter Guy Stallings and her birth parents are believed to be Ursula Lewis and Walter Lamb. Joyce is survived by her four children: Tamaris Troy Attebery of Denver, CO, Curtis Tucker Attebery of Las Vegas, NV, Khadijah Al-Shami (aka Anna Joyce Attebery) of Kent, WA and Catherine Clare Attebery of Tacoma, WA, her eight grandchildren: Rebecca Joyce Milton, Jessica Licette Brooks, Christopher Tucker Attebery, Hassan Sakhakhni, Israa Sakhakhni, Fouad Sakhakhni, Nabil Sakhakhni and Amnah Sakhakhni, and one great-grandchild, Ryder Tucker Brooks. Other surviving family members, spouses and chosen family include Ralph Tucker Attebery, Mary Elizabeth Attebery, Michael Tucker Attebery, Stephanie Joelle Attebery, Charley Mame Attebery, Maria Cruz Attebery, Christy Jean Cael, Steven James Milton, Dylan Matthew Brooks, Cameron Buhl and Carmel Thompson. (oh, and not to forget) her Tacoma grand dog, Chloe-bear.
