Josephine Anne Swanson's Obituary
Josephine Anne (JoAnne) Swanson passed away peacefully on January 27, 2024, after a brief illness. JoAnne was born on January 13, 1947, in Brooklyn, NY. JoAnne was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Terry, infant daughter Victoria Lynn, and mother and father, Paul and Rita Barbara.
JoAnne is survived by her daughters, Terri Barbre (Trent) and Kris Mandyam, along with her cherished grandchildren: Jordin (Zack) Velasco, Chase Barbre, Brendan and Maya Mandyam, brother Paul (Judy) Barbara, sisters Debbie Seitz and Jackie (Tom) Hull. Her first great-grandchild, Hudson Velasco, was a source of immense joy in her life.
JoAnne graduated from high school in 1965 and embarked on a fulfilling career at Swarner Communications, where she dedicated 31 years of service and retired in 2009.
JoAnne was active in professional and personal organizations. She served as the President of the Carpenter’s Union Women’s Auxiliary for several years and her commitment extended to the National Association of Credit Management (NACM). Here she was elected and held the esteemed positions of National Chairman of the Board, Regional Chairman of the Board for WA, AK, and HI. Her passion for professional development led her to serve as the NACM Credit and Financial Development Division President and in 2003 she was recognized as the Credit Manager of the Year.
In 2018, JoAnne made Wesley Bradley Park her home. There, she found a supportive community of friends who became her second family and she served as the Wesley Bradley Park Council President for 2 years as well as supported the Wesley Foundation through outreach and fundraising. Her warmth, wisdom, and laughter brightened the lives of those around her.
JoAnne will be remembered as loving, funny, as well as a caring mom, grandma, and friend, and her bright smile will not be forgotten.
