Josephine Hughes' Obituary
Josephine Hughes, born in September as the sixth child to Alvin and Bettie Jackson in Louisiana, embarked on a journey that would touch countless lives. At an early age, Josephine, along with her family, migrated to Washington State, eventually settling in Tacoma, the City of Destiny, where she attended public schools.
Josephine met and married James R. Hughes, and together they built a beautiful family filled with love and joy. A woman of elegance and boundless love, Josephine lived her life with compassion and dedication. Her gentle spirit and graceful presence left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was fishing, trying her luck at the casino, or spending cherished moments with her family. Her unwavering heart to serve and her love for people shone through her work in the medical field. Known for her kindness, Josephine never had an enemy and exemplified the scripture from Proverbs 18:24: "A man who has friends must himself be friendly."
Gifted with spiritual wisdom and patience, Josephine was a beacon of guidance and support to many. Her meek yet humble spirit never sought much for herself, always putting others first. She was a woman of simplicity and a beautiful great-great-grandmother.
Josephine is preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Bettie Jackson, her sons Robert and Gregory Hughes, and her siblings Willie Mae, Lillie Mae, Celia, Leanna, and Melvin. She is survived by her children Rodney Hughes (Lisa), Michael Hughes (Katrina), and her beloved daughter Teresa Hughes. Her siblings Christine Moody (Mangle), Alvin Jackson Jr., Teresa Linton (Emmett), and Andrew Jackson also mourn her passing.
Josephine will be remembered most for her gentle spirit, love, and kindness. She was the world's best mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, advisor, and friend. A wonderful jewel, Josephine, take your rest.
