Josephine Field's Obituary
Josephine Field was born on November 16, 1931, in the Philippines, she was 91 years old. As a child she survived WWII. During her teenage years she became a beauty queen, winning numerous pageants and traveling internationally. In Manilla she met James Royset, a merchant marine. They married and settled in Tacoma, WA., where they raised their four children. In addition to homemaking, she worked in many capacities at Toby Jones retirement home. With her second husband, Bill Field, she explored the United States.
Josie loved traveling, entertaining, cooking, baking, flower gardening, fishing, boating, and camping, but her biggest love was dancing. Josie was known in the Tacoma area for her hula dancing and performed professionally for many years. She also loved ballroom dancing. She was a member of the Elks and Eagles clubs, where she often danced. She was also a lifelong member of the Filipino-American League, where she enjoyed socializing and celebrating Philippine culture. She performed Filipino dancing with a group of women she befriended in the Fil-Am League. She prided herself on the many branches of her family tree and passionately documented it through photography and home movies.
Josie was a very outgoing and fun loving person. She was welcoming and excited to enjoy the company of others, engaging them with many questions. You could always find her dressed beautifully, donning a smile, and asking for just one more picture.
Josie was preceded by her first husband, James Royset, and second husband, William Field. She is survived by her three sons Expedito, Robert, Roger, and her daughter Rosalita, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be loved and remembered always!
In Our Hearts
We thought of you today.
But that is nothing new.
We thought about you yesterday.
And days before that too.
We think of you in silence.
We often speak your name.
Now all we have are memories.
And your picture in a frame.
Your memory is our keepsake.
With which we'll never part.
God has you in his keeping.
We have you in our heart.
