Joseph Kay Worthy's Obituary
Joseph, aka "Joey," aka "Joe," Worthy (as he was called to those close to him) was called to the Upper Room as he would call it, on Oct.30th 2023. He made a Huge Impact in so many lives, both young and old.
Born on May 29th, 1965,to parents Roosevelt ”Greek” Worthy & Terry Speed (Both Deceased) in Greensboro North Carolina, he attended Grimsley High School, after graduating in 1983 , he enlisted in the US Army and was stationed in Fort Lewis , WA where he served 3 years before he was honorably discharged and made Tacoma his new home.
Joe spent the last 10 years employed at American Vets Post 1 in Tacoma. He was an Environmentalist when he first started, after a few years, he was chosen to be the Activities Commander. In his new role, he Loved coordinating the summer BBQ’s and Christmas Parties for the children in the community, but his most talked about event was one that he put together called “Do the Worthy” Daddy Daughter Dance and was able to Host it for a few years.
On days he was available, he loved his sports. He was a Die Hard Raiders & Dodgers fan and not to mention his North Carolina Tar Hills, he use to always say he wanted to
keep a part of where he was from close by. He was always the comedian, finding a joke in just about anything. He also had this savvy way of making people laugh, even if they didn’t want to. He was the life of the party.
But with all that he did and loved, there is one Passion that was closest to his heart, The Love he had for his Children & Grandchildren. Family was very important. He was Joe, Joey, Worthy ,Mr. Worthy to a lot of people. But to his children and grandchildren, he was G ’Daddy, Papa, Pops, Dad, and their Best Friend.
Joe is survived by his Children & Grandchildren; Ace (Anthony) Sheena, Marinaleeya; Buff (Brandon) wife Annie; Bonka (Biankah),Rheinah, Ariia, Andon ,Aiden: Dom(Joseph) Jayda mama(Jaydalena), Day Day(Zekeynan) Raenalyn, Jordyne, Jess, Yung; Rachael, KK (Kayann), Zion; Vivian, Victoria , Brandon; Siblings; Nece (Tammy) ; Wendy Jackie, Keyon, Brian. Extended Family of brothers, sisters, cousins, nieces & Nephews. He is Pre- Deceased; Roosevelt “Greek”(Father); Terry Speed(Mother); Niece; Tasha (Natasha) Nephew ; Dominique.
