Joseph Burdette Stiner's Obituary
Joseph Burdette Stiner went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at 10:49 am. Joe passed away at 76 from Dementia and was surrounded by family at the time of his death.
He was born in Kendrick Oklahoma on March 4, 1941 to Joseph Omer and Thelma Marie Stiner. He enjoyed attending Putnam City Schools, after which attending Southeastern Baptist College in Laurel MS and Jacksonville Baptist College of Jacksonville TX.
He began his career as a vocational pastor in churches in TX and OK. He had a beautiful voice and sang second tenor in several Southern Gospel music quartets. He then followed in both his earthly and Heavenly Father's footsteps, becoming a master carpenter, creating beautiful furniture. For 17 years he worked as Head of Construction and Remodeling of First National Bank Building in Oklahoma City, which at the time, was the tallest skyscraper in Oklahoma City. He moved to Washington in the 1980s, where he continued his work as a carpenter until his retirement. He enjoyed singing gospel music, hunting, fishing, camping, playing horseshoes, and had the love of many faithful dogs throughout his life. At the time of his passing, he and his wife were both residents of Orchard Park Health and Rehabilitation Center in Tacoma, Washington.
He was predeceased by his parents, sisters Geneva Van Gundy and Pearl Cline, and son Keith. He is also survived by his loving wife Lori and his daughter Casa Stiner-Chapman, and husband Mark of Memphis TN and their two daughters Tiffany (and husband Reuben Gearhart) and Brittany, and their three grandchildren Liam, Scarlet, and Jareth. Joseph is also survived by his sons, Michael Dayne (and wife Gerry) of Tacoma; and James, and wife Rayna and their two sons Jolan and Javin, all of Puyallup. He is survived by sisters Minerva Pierce and RuDell Adkison. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and their families.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 3:00 pm in the Aspen Chapel of the Mountain View Funeral Home in Lakewood Washington, with a reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Dementia Society of America.
