Joseph J. Hanks' Obituary
Joseph Junior Hanks Joseph passed away peacefully on Monday, May 2, 2011 at home surrounded by his family. Junior was born February 29, 1924, in Salem, Utah to Joseph Emmett Hanks and Bernice Wilson. He married Daisy Dean Daniels on August 12, 1946 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They are parents to three children: Mark (Janet), Lynn (Gail) and JoDean (Mark) Thatcher, 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He is survived by his sister Beverly Bearnson and brother Dwight Hanks. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, sister Priscilla Simmons, brothers: Brice and Newell Hanks. Joe was inducted into the US Army in 1943 & served in the 80th Division at the completion of the war was transferred to the Famed 1st Division & served as a 1st Lieutenant guarding the Nuremberg Trials. Upon returning home he earned a BS in Business from the University of Utah. He worked for TriState Lumber, Boise Cascade, Weyerhauser and then in 1966 began working for New York Life Insurance where he became very successful and loved being his own boss. Services will be held at 11am Monday, May 9th at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 5220 104th St SW, Lakewood. Viewing will be from 10:00-10:45am. Interment will be at Mountain View Memorial Park.
