Joseph W. "Joe" Burba, Jr.'s Obituary
Joseph W. “Joe” Burba Jr., age 83 of Puyallup, Washington passed away on March 9, 2016. Born June 8, 1932 to the late Joseph Sr. and Velma Burba in Detroit, Michigan. As a child he was primarily raised by his father and attended school in Michigan. During college he enrolled in the Military Reserve Officer Training Candidate (ROTC) Program, which lead him to U.S. Army enlistment in 1955 to 1957. He was a First Lieutenant with the artillery while serving in the Korean Conflict. He developed a love of the Chinese culture and returned as a civilian to Vietnam for a number of years.
Afterwards, upon returning to the States, he spent time travelling and enjoying the fast life of cars and motorcycles. Joe was a man whom spent a part of his life with heavy drinking and drugs. While in Portland, Oregon he had lunch with his sister Geri and promised her he would get clean and sober. He eventually became a dedicated member of AA, serving for many years on the committee and extended his help as a sponsor to other members. Joe developed many friendships and would always offer his home as a place to stay for those that needed. He will be remembered for his huge heart and guidance to many. At the time of Joe’s passing, he accomplished 31 years of sobriety. Joe is in a better place now… may he rest in peace.
Joe is survived by Anthony “Tony” Miranda; a Sister, Geri (Jack) Daly of Michigan; special friends, Mike Johnson, Robert Jacques and many more loving family members and friends. He will be greatly missed.
