Joseph B. Reiter's Obituary
Joe was born in Tramping Lake, Saskatchewan, Canada on March 23, 1915. He moved with his family of 12 to Portland, Oregon in 1923 and remained there until he joined the Marine Corps. In 1945 he settled in Tacoma, Washington where he lived until his death on May 1, 2010. He proudly served in both WWII and the Korean War and later retired from Sears after 30 years. He was fortunate to enjoy many retirement years helping his children, watching sporting events, traveling and especially playing golf (until the age of 90). He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, love of children and story telling.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years LaVonne, his children Sharon Madison, Gary (Kathy), Denise (Kirk) Reagan, Mark (Margaret), Dennis (Melanie), 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren with the 11th due in September; 2 grandchildren preceded him in death.
A memorial service will be held in the Garden Chapel at Mountain View Funeral Home on Saturday, May 8, at 12:00 noon; reception following. Donations may be made to Franciscan Hospice, 2901 Bridgeport Way West, University Place, WA 98466.
