Joseph Allen Taylor11/19/1935 Â- 03/23/2003Joe passed away after a lengthy battle with illness on March 23, 2003 at Tacoma General Hospital.Joseph Taylor was born November 19, 1935 to parents Joseph Nelson Taylor and Ethel (Sutton) Taylor in Des Moines, IA. Joseph later met his wife Betty and the two were united in marriage on February 25, 1973.In 1974 Joe retired from the United States Army after 20 years of loyal service. This service included a tour in Vietnam.Joe is a Lifetime Charter Member of the Tillicum VFW Post 2329 and a member of the Tillicum Cootie Pup Tent #4. As well as these organizations, Joe loved spending time with the children he cared for and will be missed by all who had the pleasure of meeting him. Predeceased by sister Mary Ellen and parents Joseph Nelson and Ethel (Sutton) TaylorSurvived by wife Betty Lou Taylor; children Janet, Kathy, and Jimmy; sisters Betty Ann, Carol, Irene, and Katie, as well as many extended family members.Services will be Saturday, March 29, 2003 at 1pm in the Valley Chapel at Mountain View Funeral Home, 4100 Steilacoom Blvd. SW, Tacoma, WA 98499. A reception will follow at the Tillicum VFW Post 2329, 14809 Woodlawn Ave. SW Lakewood, WA. His final resting place will be at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, OR. where he will be received with Full Military honors.
