JONNY BERGO"GOING HOME"Sumner resident, Jonny Bergo lost the fight of his life to leukemia on November 21, 2007. He is survived by his wife of 33 years Grace, sons Jeff, John, Bill Austin (Dana) and his three precious angels Jill, Regan and Saylor. Jonny was born on March 23, 1937. He was raised in the town of Steilacoom then later moved to Tacoma. Jonny graduated from Stadium High School in 1956. An accomplished boxer, Jonny competed as an amateur for several years achieving the title of Golden Glove Welter Weight Champion in 1959. He later served in the Coast Guard and as a reservist for the Air Force. Jonny held a variety of jobs finally settling as a Boeing Machinist and retiring in 1999 after 30 years.Many people will walk in and out of your life, but only true friends will leave footprints in your heart. Jonny was this kind of man. He loved unconditionally. Above all, he loved his family heart and soul.
