Johnny Lee Norman Jr's Obituary
Johnny Lee Norman Jr., a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, faithful servant of God, and proud Army veteran, passed away on January 19, 2026, at the age of 68. He was born on January 10, 1958, to Johnny Lee Norman Sr. (Father) and Gwennette Evangelene Norman (Mother) and was raised on the north side of Tyler, Texas, a place that shaped his values, resilience, and deep sense of responsibility to family and community.
Johnny was a man of few words, but his presence was always felt. He spoke most clearly through his actions—through the way he showed up, provided, protected, and remained steady for those he loved. His life was a quiet testimony of strength, humility, and faith.
He proudly served his country as an Army Sergeant, retiring after 20 years of honorable and dedicated service. His military career reflected the principles he lived by every day: discipline, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment. Those same principles poured over into his next occupation as a transportation expert with the public school district of Tacoma for over 26 years. Johnny believed in hard work and led by example, teaching those around him the value of perseverance and integrity.
Above all, Johnny valued God and family. His faith was deeply rooted and consistently lived out, guiding his decisions and shaping the man he was. His love for his family was evident not only in words, but in the countless ways he cared for them and put their needs before his own.
Johnny passed on Tuesday January 19, 2026. He was preceded in death by brother: Chester Earl Norman; parents: Johnny Lee Norman Sr. & Gwennette Evangelene Norman (Simmons).
Johnny is survived by his beloved wife, Kyong Nan Norman, his sons: Jermone Parish (JacQee) Norman (Clarksville), Juwaun Trae Norman, his sisters: Patricia Ann Norman (Tyler), Brenda Louise Cooper(Oliver)(Tyler), his brothers: Randy Wayne (Debra) Norman (Grand Prairie), Arnold Ray Norman (Tyler); he had five treasured grandchildren. Each carries forward a piece of his
legacy.
While his presence here will be deeply missed, we take comfort in knowing he has been called home and now rests in eternal peace.
“In my Father’s house are many mansions… I go to prepare a place for you.” — John 14:2
