Johnnie Leo York, SFC Retired
Johnnie passed on April 22, 2009 at the age of 82 and was born in Mayflower, Arkansas on Nov. 19, 1926.
Johnnie was preceded in death by Detta York wife of 63 years and son of 8 years Johnnie Leo York, Jr.
He is survived by 3 children, Dottie Mazza (Nick), Tom York (Colleen) and Donald York. 3 brothers Joe York and Elmer York of Arkansas, Glenn York of Mississippi; sisters Christine Green of Arkansas and Ellen Crowder of Tennessee.
Johnnie was blessed with 7 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren who called him -Å"Pa-Pa-
He served his country in three wars, World War II, Korea and Viet Nam. He was very proud of his military service and retired in 1967. Johnnie owned South Way Motors Car Lot in south Tacoma from 1969 to 2000.
He was the happiest when he was taking care of his wife who passed away November 28, 2008. She's been waiting for them to be together and now they will be together in the house of the Lord forever.
Services will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, April 28, 2009 in the Garden Chapel at at Mountain View Funeral Home..with full military honors at graveside.
