John R Woolery's Obituary
John R. Woolery (JW) passed peacefully in his sleep June 11th from complications related to alzheimer’s/dementia. Born in Kansas City, MO on 1/8/32, JW lived a life full of love, commitment, and giving for family and friends. If you weren’t part of that family or circle of friends; he readily welcomed you with open arms, a hearty laugh, and maybe a cold Olympia beer. JW is a member of the greater Tacoma Bowling assn and VFW.
He served his country proudly in the USAF from 1949 – 1969 and will be remembered as a veteran, a father, a husband, a grandfather, a son, and a brother. He will be missed.
JW is survived by his wife, of 42 years, Elaine Olin Woolery, son Jack (Valerie), son David (David Palmer), son Mark, daughter Paula (Faron), and daughter Donna along with many grand and great grand children. Fair winds and following seas JW.
A celebration of life will be held in The Aspen Chapel at Mountain View Memorial Park on Thursday June 26, 2014 at 11:00am followed by a processional to Tahoma National Cemetery and inurnment with military honors at 2:15pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Franciscan Hospice or local alzheimer’s/dementia foundation of your choice.
