John Smith, II's Obituary
Deacon John W. Smith Sr. Born April 14, 1935 in Helena Arkansas, passed away on the morning of March 10, 2010. He was a graduate from Carroll High School in Monroe, Louisiana. He joined the Army where he served his country as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne. He moved to Washington in 1957. Deacon Smith was a member of New Jerusalem COGIC. There he worked tirelessly with the church Feeding Program to serve those in need in the Hill Top Community.
He was a loving family man survived by his wife of 53 yrs, Kattie M. Smith, and four children Frankie, Janice, Tony, and Jon Jr. He had 8 grandchildren & 7 great-grandchildren. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
Funeral service will be held 12 noon, Friday, March 19, 2010 at New Jerusalem COGIC.
