John Robert Singleton's Obituary
Singleton, John Robert, 89 of Tacoma WA passed away on April 15, 2016 in University Place WA. Beloved husband of Gladys Singleton (Stephens) of Tacoma. Loving father of sons David of Tacoma and John (Carolyn) of Ephrata WA.
John is survived by his caring family along with his adoring seven Grandchildren, 20 Great-Grandchildren and two Great-Great Grandchildren.
John was born in Tacoma WA to his caring parents John Wilkes Singleton and Sammy Noreen Singleton (Dees). He attended Tacoma Schools and graduated from Lincoln High School. He then enrolled at Drury College earning his BA degree.
Following college, John enlisted in the US Army and after 24 years of dedicated service, he retired from military service a highly decorated Major serving in WWII, Korea and Vietnam.
Along with his wife Gladys, John attended the Fern Hill United Methodist Church in Tacoma WA. John was also a proud member of the Tacoma Lodge of Elks.
Graveside Services with full military honors will be held for John on Tuesday May 24, 2016 at 1:00/PM at Tahoma National Cemetery, 18600 SE 240th Street, Kent WA 98042. Gathering for procession to ceremonial shelter will begin at the cemetery at 12:30/PM.
Visitation will be held on Monday May 23, 2016 from 3:00/PM to 6:00/PM at the Mountain View Funeral Home, 4100 Steilacoom Blvd SW. Lakewood WA 98499. Family and friends kindly invited.
