John Wayne Pavlic's Obituary
John Wayne Pavlic, age 72, passed away on December 13, 2013 in Tacoma, WA.
A native of Tacoma, Wayne was born on May 12, 1941 to John and Blanche (Johnson) Pavlic. Wayne attended Holy Cross grade school, Mason Middle School, Stadium High School and was in the first graduating class of Wilson High School in 1959. His youth was characterized by his noted athleticism in football, and track and field. He attended Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA on a football scholarship, where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity, graduatingwith a bachelor’s degree in Engineering in 1963. He received his M.B.A. from Santa Clara University. Wayne met his former wife Noreen Deruette when they were both in college. They married in San Francisco, CA in 1967 and raised two children in Cupertino, CA.
For many years, Wayne worked in sales for the Pacific Telephone Company, then AT&T Information Systems, followed by Pacific Bell, where he made many long-time friends. While living in Cupertino, he was an active member of his local Kiwanis club. In 1994, Wayne moved back to Washington, and for the last 16 years lived in Tacoma, WA. While living in Tacoma, Wayne was employed as a bondsman by his uncle, CJ Johnson.
Wayne was a great storyteller and all enjoyed his dry sense of humor. He is also remembered as a playful uncle and a wonderful gift-giver. A very loyal friend and beloved father, Wayne will be greatly missed by his family and friends in Washington and California.
He is survived by his son John D.Pavlic (and his wife KandiShouman) of Lake Stevens, WA; his daughter, Shannon Fayne Joyce (and her husband Dane Joyce)of Oakland, CA; his sister Carol Lundblad of Lacey, WA; his grandchildren, Joanie Pavlic, Christian and Austin Shouman, and Henry Joyce; and nieces and nephews, Chris Lund, Sean Lundblad, Julie Bourgault, Michael Miller, Britt Miller and Brian Miller.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents. He will be buried in the family plot at Mountain View Funeral Home located at 4100 Steilacoom Blvd SW, Lakewood, WA 98499.
Memorial services will be held on Monday, December 30, 2013 at 11am at Holy Cross Catholic Church located at 5510 N. 44thStreet, Tacoma, WA 98407.
