John M. Whitsell's Obituary
John (Bob) Whitsell Passed away January 14, 2010.
He was born in Iowa July 15, 1915, and moved to Washington with his wife Beverly in 1942 to barber at Fort Lewis during WWII. In the 50's he bought and worked at Fircrest Barber Shop until his retirement in 1988. He was a member of Fircrest United Methodist Church. He also was active with Fircrest Volunteer Fire Department for 32 years and served as Fire Chief for 3 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife Beverly. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Dallas Whitsell, daughters Laoes Paulson (Leonard) of Port Orchard, WA, Theo Roddy (Ron) of Durham, NC, Lora Gorton (Dan) of Benton City, WA, stepdaughters Kathy Southwick (Al) of Grants Pass, OR, Mary Larsen (Craig) of Bothell, WA. He has 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren with two on the way. We will all miss him but will join him soon in the blink of an eye.
A celebration of his life will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, January 23rd, 2010, Fircrest United Methodist Church, 1018 Columbia Avenue, Tacoma WA. Memorial gifts will be divided between Fircrest United Methodist and Franciscan Hospice House. He has online obituary sites at News Tribune and www.mountainviewtacoma.com .
