John Smith Jr's Obituary
John Smith Jr. was born on March 14,
1931 to the late John and Amelia Smith
in Selma, Alabama. He attended and
graduated from Hudson High School
where he enjoyed playing basketball
and baseball, and went on to further
his education at Alabama State
College.
John later joined the United States
Army where he served until he received
a medical discharge after being
diagnosed with a medical condition
that was said to only give him one
year to live, and to God be the glory
he beat that, and lived a long healthy
life surrounded by his family and
friends.
John worked for many years as a bus
monitor for the Tacoma Public School
District and also as a janitor at many
places.
John was a faithful member of Bethlehem
Baptist Church where he joined in 1949
and served in many of the auxiliaries
and played on the softball team.
Cherishing his memory is his sister
Alice Steverson, Nephews Jeffery
(Schyler), John (Karen), Nieces Omelia
(Joseph), Marie (Anthony), Mae (Earnest)
and a host of other relatives.
He is preceded in death by his parents,
two brothers, one sister, one nephew and
one great niece.
