John (Jack) Richard's Obituary
Jack, born in Sioux City, IA, December 30, 1927, passed away from cancer October 1, 2003 at home with his loving family.At age 16, he joined the Merchant Marines and served on ships during WWII for 3 years before being discharged from the U.S. Coast Guard. Following, he joined the Army proudly serving with the 11th, 82nd, and 101st Airborne; later serving tours in Japan, Germany, and Hawaii. He retired after 20 years as an E-7 in Lakewood. He became employed as a Security Officer by Pacific Lutheran University, and was later employed by the City of Tacoma. He is survived by his loving wife, LaVaune of 50 years; sons, Dale (Debbie), Jack (Sue), Glenn (Saundra); daughters, Annalise (Dave), Angela (William); and many grandchildren.He was a wonderful cook, loved RVing, had a hardy laugh, a sense of humor, and was dearly loved by all.The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Birlenbach and Dr. Baker. Graveside services will be held at 3:30 P.M., Thursday, October 9, 2003 at Mt. View Memorial Park.
