John Hewitt's Obituary
John H. Hewitt, 89, a longtime member of the Tacoma business community, passed on December 26 to join his beloved wife Bonnie.
He was born in Seattle in 1923 to a pioneering business family and spent most of his adult life in Tacoma. He was a veteran of the Pacific theater aboard the submarine SS Darter in WWII, a graduate of the University of Washington, a member of Rotary, and a former board member of Mary Bridge Children's Hospital and the Tacoma Art Museum. He served as a Vice President for The National Bank of Washington in southwest Washington, which later became First Interstate and Wells Fargo banks, and completed post-graduate work at Pacific Coast Banking School.
He was preceded in passing by his beautiful wife, Bonnie in 1995, and is survived by four sons and their families: Jim Hewitt (Lynn) of Grand Junction, Colorado, Jack Hewitt (Susan) of Olympia, Larry (Rhonda) Hewitt of Centralia, and Tim Hewitt (Wendy) of Old Orchard Beach, Maine. John had nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
At his request there will be no memorial service. John will join Bonnie at Mountain View Memorial Cemetery.
