John Sylvan Hauge
John Sylvan Hauge, 91, died Tuesday, June 21, 2011 and went to be with his Lord after an extended illness. John was born to Norwegian immigrant parents on a farm they homesteaded in North Dakota. He graduated from Burlington WA High School and attended Washington State University before joining the US Army Air Corps, where he served as a tech sergeant with a bomber group in Burma, China and India during World War II. John worked in the automotive industry both as a small business owner and general manager of a local auto parts distributor. He was an avid fisherman. Nothing made him happier than getting the family out in his boat on Puget Sound. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church where he served as a trustee and deacon. John was a devoted husband and father. He is survived by Arlene, his wife of 64 years, his daughter Betty Leisher, son Ron Hauge, three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the Calvary Baptist Missions Fund, 6511 S C St., Tacoma, WA 98408. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 25, 2011 at Calvary Baptist Church, 6511 S C Street, Tacoma, Washington. Arrangements by Mountain View Funeral Home.
