John Patrick Gabbard's Obituary
On December 16, 2018 John Patrick Gabbard, 61 passed away at home surrounded by his family. John was a brave warrior in his fight with cancer, but ultimately he was called home. John was born in Long Beach, CA. As a young child he lived in Seal Beach and Long Beach CA. In his teens he resided in Yakima and Moses Lake, WA where he graduated from Moses Lake High School in 1975. Shortly after graduation he moved to Salt Lake City, where he met his future bride, Debbie. While in Salt Lake he joined the US Army. He was honorably discharged six years later. He and his wife were married for 41 years, and primarily resided in Tacoma, WA. John is survived by his wife Debra Gabbard (Foster) his children Patrick E. Gabbard (Eman), Jeffrey R. Gabbard and Kirsten R. Prunty (Mike), his parents Ronnie Estel Gabbard and Shirley Nan Gabbard (Walton). Brothers Ronald L. Gabbard (Shelli) and Peter B. Gabbard. His much loved and cherished Grandchildren Koby, Grace, Elijah, Sophia, Jay, Shayne and little Abigail John. John loved and adored his Salt Lake Foster clan, especially his father in law, Bob L. Foster. And many extended family members. John was deeply devoted to his work, and built a long lasting friendship and bond with his associates that lasted for 30 years. John was an accomplished photographer and loved to be the “memory keeper”. He was an excellent bowler and shared his passion coaching junior leagues for many years. The family would like to thank Virginia Mason Oncology, Seattle Cancer Care Alliance and Multicare Hospice.
