Command Sergeant Major, United States Army. Retired after 32 years of military service. Veteran of WW II, Korea, and Viet Nam conflicts. Loving husband and father. Survived by wife Florence and son, John. Untiring organizer and supporter of youth activities that included Boy Scouts of America, hunter safety certification, and competitive marksmanship programs. Viewing at Mountain View Funeral Home, Lakewood, Washington, Sunday, October 19 from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Interment services at Tahoma National Cemetery, Kent, Washington, on Monday, October 20, 2008. Services begin at 9:45 AM. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity in memory of John Vekich.
