John Dee Fischer's Obituary
John was born February 11, 1912 in Hamburg, Illinois and moved to Banks, Oregon when he was 6 months old. At 15 he moved to Nampa, Idaho, then came to Tacoma in 1990 to be with his only son and family. He married Emma Jane Freeman in April 1934. She predeceased him in 1992. He retired in February 1977 as manager and 5th Vice President of First Security Bank in Moscow, Idaho.Dee was an avid fly fisherman, even going so far as to tie his own flies. He enjoyed hunting, riding his Honda motorcycle to pick huckleberries and chopping wood. Recently he participated in a Senior Style Show at South Hill Mall.Dee is survived by his only son William (Linda) Fischer of Tacoma, granddaughter Julie Ann (Dean) Detweiler of Puyallup, 2 step grandsons Chris Bowlin of Washington, D.C. and Jason Bowlin of Tacoma. He is also survived by 2 great-grandchildren Isabel and Samuel Detweiler.Special thanks to Dr. Ionescu and Dr. Chowdhry of Internal Medicine Northwest, the staff on the 11th floor of St. JosephÂ's Hospital, the staff at Hospice House, and his many friends at Spring Ridge Assisted Living Facility. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation or American Heart Association.A graveside service will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday, August 25, 2006 at Mountain View Memorial Park, and a celebration of his life will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Spring Ridge Assisted Living, 6856 East Portland Ave., Tacoma, WA 98404.
