John Carter Bass' Obituary
J. Carter Bass, a resident of Panorama City in Lacey, WA since 1982, died on Monday, July 17, 2006. He was born in Auburn, KY in 1911, and came with his parents to the Bridgeport Bar in 1912. He spent most of his life on the bar, in Wenatchee, and in Steilacoom.Mr. Bass retired from the US Penitentiary on McNeil Island after 26 years of service. Charlotte Doelle Bass, his wife of 50 years preceded him in death in January 1987. He is survived by special friends who loved him dearly. The couple were long time members of Oberlin Congregational Church of Steilacoom. Mr. Bass was a member of the V.F.W. and served with the 70th Infantry Division in the E.T.O. during WWII.Graveside services will be held at 10:30am on Monday, July 24, 2006 at Mountain View Memorial Park, with viewing starting at 9:30 am. Memorial contributions may be made to any S.P.C.A., Animal Anti-Vivisection Society, P.A.W.S. of Lynnwood, or Â"Concern for Animals of OlympiaÂ".
