John Browning's Obituary
John Browning was born on December 16, 1921 in Hamlin, WV, where he lived until 1938. His parents were James S. and Violette Browning who precede him in passing. He was 2nd of 10 children. He attended Cowhide School and earned his GED. After graduation, he joined the military and began a career as a heavy equipment operator in Washington State. He served in the Navy/Army from 1942 to 1963 during WWII and Korea. He attained the rank of SFC and retired in 1963, after serving for 20 years. He lived in Spanaway, Washington and married Lila on June 6, 1952, who also precedes him in passing. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and rock collecting. John will always be remembered as being kind hearted, loving and dedicated to his family.
John is survived by his son Terry and Cathy of Spanaway, Washington. Brothers Gene Browning of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Jerry Browning of Ravenswood, West Virginia. Sister Thelma Browning of Hamlin, West Virginia. Grandchildren Rob Browning of Lacey, Washington, Brian Browning of Misawa, Japan, Jennifer Whittaker of Puyallup, Washington, Jamie Whittaker of Parkland Washington. And great grandchildren Jonathan Browning, Alyssa Browning and Samantha Browning.
