John Peter Beckman, MSGT, U.S. Air Force, Retired's Obituary
John Peter Beckman, MSGT, U.S. Air Force, Retired, 88, passed away on August 19, 2014 in Kent, WA. He was born on June 17, 1926 in Grattan Township, Minnesota to Peter and Myrtle (Barker) Beckman.
John served our country in the U.S. Air Force for a total of 42 years, retiring on June 30, 1974. He received numerous flying awards. He loved football (Minnesota Vikings), baseball (Minnesota Twins) and bowling especially with his two grandchildren. He also loved traveling back to his homeland Minnesota to see his family and other sites along the way.
He is survived by son Peter Beckman; step-sons Larry (Candia) Bartz; sister Lois Kanne; brother Robert Beckman; two grandchildren Joshua (Sarah) Bartz, Rhonda (Clarke) Gardner; five great-grandchildren Emma, Ethan, Kyle, Reese, Vincent and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, close friends and Jane, the former wife to the late Allen Bartz. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Irmgard Beckman, step-son Allen Bartz and sister Vivian Thomas.
The family wishes to express a special thank you to Romeo and Mildred Edrozo at A Happy Heart Adult Care Center for their care and love that they gave to John during his stay. We also want to especially thank his guardian, Karen Darrin for her special care and excellent service.
Graveside services will be held at 11:30 AM, Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at Mountain View Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 11:15 AM prior to the graveside.
