Grampa, we will miss your peanut brittle, great wine, and the stories you told.Preceded in death by sister Della, Jack is survived by his bride Alice; daughter Rita Bryant; granddaughters Tammy Bentley (John), Tara Appelt (Edward), Valeen, Samantha, and Michelle; great grandchildren Mallory, Alyssa, Shebuel, Kelcey, Garrett, Rylie, and Ethan; sisters Anne Kathleen Malin and Joyce Pettit, and brother David Harlacher.Born in Tacoma and raised in Roy, Jack joined the Navy as a Sea Bee in WWII. After his wedding to Alice in 1948, they raised their only child Rita in Tacoma where Jack worked at Foss Tug, later retiring from Tacoma City Light.Jack was very proud of the homes he built, both in Nisqually then Roy.He enjoyed his garden, growing pumpkins for his grandchildren for Halloween, sitting on the deck he built, and looking at Mt. Rainier.Grampa, we love you and will miss you always.Reception held in Â"the house that Jack builtÂ", Roy, WA, Thursday, Dec. 30th, noon Â- 3pm.
