JOEL FELDMAN
JUNE 29, 1937 - JUNE 5, 2013
Pizza maker, engineer, sailor, lawyer…..Joel was a man of many talents.
Joel began his life in Springfield, Massachusetts, the son of Harry and Ida Feldman. When Joel was thirteen he moved with his family to Van Nuys, California. After graduation from Van Nuys High School, he went on to earn his engineering degree from the University of Southern California. Joel loved to learn, and next he went on to Purdue to receive his masters in business. He then returned to California where he worked as an aero-space engineer in association with NASA. His next venture took him to Port Townsend, Washington where he started his own pizza parlor “THE PIZZA PRIZE”. In 1972, Joel returned to school, attending the University of Puget Sound where he was a proud member of the first graduating law school class. He practiced law in the Lakewood area until his retirement in 2003.
Joel was an active member of the Lakewood Rotary Club, the Tacoma Yacht Club and Tacoma Country Club. He was always ready and willing to help others, which was evident during his years as a board member of the Tillicum Community Center. Joel was an avid sailor and took his boat, The Sea Prize, on many weekend excursions through Puget Sound. He also sailed with his family and friends on numerous annual trips to the San Juan Islands and Desolation Sound. Joel loved cars and drove his Austin Healey in the yearly Roadster Romp. In his free time, Joel also enjoyed fishing, reading, and traveling around the world.
Joel Feldman, age 75, passed away peacefully at his home in Lakewood, WA on June 5, 2013 with his family at his side. He is survived by his wife Donna and her children Tim and Kelly Donovan, and his sons Adam (Karen) and Jason Feldman.
A Celebration of Life for Joel will be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at 3:00 pm in the Aspen Chapel at Mountain View Funeral Home. Remembrances may be made to the Lakewood Community Foundation.
