Joe William Garcia's Obituary
Joe William Garcia, Jr SMSGT, USAF, Retired Joe was born on Aug 9, 1952 at Edwards AFB, CA to Joe and Johanna Garcia. That should have been an indication of the importance the Air Force would play in his life. He enlisted in 1970 as a Supply Technician and was honorably discharged in 1991 from the 62nd Supply Squadron at McChord. During those years he was stationed in Germany, Spain, Illinois, Washington and was decorated for his service in Desert Storm. Joe loved model airplanes and cars, along with any science fiction book or movie. He was a big Star Trek fan and watched those early episodes many times. Joe always had a joke for anyone he met; and how he loved his Tab and his gum! Anyone who knew him remembers his infectious smile. Preceded in death by his parents and survived by his wife, Carolyn and sons David (wife Tricia and son Xander), Brian and Sean. His sisters Rosita Garcia, Cynthia Lonctot and Johanna Irwin (Jon) along with numerous nieces and nephews will miss him dearly. After a courageous battle against Multiple Sclerosis, he went quietly in the early morning of April 5, 2009 into the arms of our Father and was welcomed by family members who have passed. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in his honor to the National MS Society. Viewing will be at Mt. View Funeral Home Monday April 13th from noon until 9 P.M. Memorial service in the Mt. View Garden Chapel with full military honors Tuesday April 14th at 2:00 PM. Reception following.
