Joan Marlene Wiggins' Obituary
Sumner, Washington – Joan M. (Griffin) Wiggins passed away peacefully on October 22, 2025, at the age of 86. She was born in Tacoma on February 27th, 1939, by her loving parents Clifford and Ruth Griffin. Joan was raised in the Tacoma area and graduated from Fife High School in 1957.
Since marrying her “B” in 1959, Joan is celebrated with over 66 years of commitment to her family and loved ones. She worked in the Clover Park School District for 10+ years in the special education department, followed by 10+ years at Clover Park Technical College. She was a master quilter boasting several first place and grand prize ribbons at the Washington State Fair year after year. Joan was a natural at mentoring young teens and touched many lives with kindness, gentle guidance and compassion. She will be missed and remembered most by her family as a particularly loving and supportive mother, grandmother and aunt who deeply loved her family, friends, and community.
Joan is survived by daughter Terri (and Dale Olson), son Jeff (and Jody), her sister Lorna Hermann, and 15 grandchildren & great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband William (Bill), son Marc, brothers Clifford Jr. and Wayne, and her parents.
A celebration for Joan will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 14, at Mountain View Memorial Park in Lakewood, WA.
