Joan Lowery's Obituary
Joan E. Lowery Our beloved Joan was born July 18th, 1924 and passed away at her daughter's home with family by her side on September 17th, 2017 at the age of 93. She is predeceased by her parents Laverne M and Fred Lamp, and her first born, son Marty. Joan graduated from Salem High School (Illinois) and then from business college in St. Louis. She used her business training as an executive assistant first working for Standard Oil of Ohio, then in a law office and finally retiring at the age of 82 after 42 years of service with the Department of Defense, Civil Service. Joan was married to Gene Lowery in 1942. Mom travelled the world as a proud air force wife especially loving her Hawaii assignment, and finally settling in Lakewood, Wa in 1968. Her family was her passion, her pride and joy. She took every opportunity to be with a family member each and everyday for shopping, dining out or whatever adventure awaited. Joan (Gigi) is survived by her daughter Marsha Sparks (Steve) and her son Rick Lowery, grandchildren Jessika Lowery, Jason Lowery (Erika), Jesse Lowery (Stephanie), Matt Lowery (Emily), Katie Lowery, Hannah Santora (Anthony), and Aaron Sparks (Betsy), great grandchildren Mikaiah, Zaabryel and Malachi Lowery; Emma and Jake Lowery; Gracie, Jace and Judah Lowery; Adeline and Henry Lowery; Dominic and Remo Santora; Natasha Leps; and great great grand daughter Bryelle Lowery. Services will be held at Mountain View Memorial Park, Garden Chapel on Tues., Sept. 26th at 1 PM. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Jessika Lowery and Steve Sparks for their constant compassionate and loving care. We couldn't have kept her at home per her wishes, without your tremendous support. A reception will follow the service at the Sparks residence.
