Joan Lech's Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joan Bernice Lech on Monday, April 15th at St. Joseph's hospital.
She was the daughter of Scandinavian immigrants Godfrey and Aasta Peterson. She had a positive upbringing, influenced by the drive and entrepreneurial spirit of her Father and strong Christian values of her Mother. Together the family found peace living on the banks of American Lake, frequently visited by family and friends.
Joan was a teacher, a rifle marksman, a business owner and a very proud mother and grandmother. She is survived by her sons Erik (Jennifer) and Peter (Mary) and grandchildren Ethan, Savannah, Hayden and Hunter. She cherished the family around her, her neighbors, and second family at Christ Lutheran Church.
Joan returned to finish her life on that land from which she was raised. She settled into a peaceful and loving life caring for her gardens and pets. She was incredibly passionate about gardening and would spend countless hours reading about the topic and had established quite a library. Her greatest joy was sharing her fruits and vegetables with family and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 22nd at 11:00 am at Christ Lutheran Church (8211 112th St SW, Lakewood, WA), followed by a grave side service at 1:30 pm at Mountain View Funeral Home (4100 Steilacoom Blvd. SW).
