Joan L. Stahl's Obituary
Loving and devoted wife, mom, grandma, daughter, sister, friend and neighbor, Joan Lorene Stahl passed away suddenly yet peacefully in her sleep at home on May 26, 2004, from cardiac arrest. Her unconditional love, compassion, friendship and laughter will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Born to Sigvard and Signe Asplund in Tacoma on June 25, 1935, Joan resided in Tacoma for 68 years. She met a young sailor from California, fell in love and married George L. Stahl in 1955. She then began her full time occupation as a homemaker. Nurturing her family was her passion. She was an excellent seamstress and her love of baking always left the aroma of home made cookies for the arrival of her children returning from school. Joan took great pride and joy in the appearance and accomplishments of her children and grandchildren. She willingly volunteered her service at the local PTA, Boys Scouts of America, Camp Fire Girls, and attended Emmanuel Lutheran Church. She enjoyed playing her piano, gardening, bird watching, and spending time at the ocean, where she loved to beach comb and dig for clams. When her children left home, it was never for long and her selfless spirit of caring continued with any grandchild in need. God will have a high place in heaven for her.Joan was predeceased by her father Sigvard in 1973 and her husband George in 2003. She leaves behind her son John (Anna) Stahl, daughters Diane (Brian) Lynch and Cynthia Teebken, grandsons Jonathon and Andrew Stahl, Brandon and Patrick Lynch, granddaughters, Jessica and Rebecca Teebken, mother Signe Wenness, sister Donna (Rick) Cratsenberg, nephew Rick Jr., and niece Heidi.Graveside service will be at 1:00 pm at Tahoma National Cemetery, Kent, Washington on Thursday, June 3, 2004.
