Jim Gipson "Jimmy"'s Obituary
Age 73, of Tacoma, WA. Was surrounded by his loving family when the Lord called him home May 1st, 2018. Born December 21st, 1944 in Simsboro, LA. Jim, a retired military mechanic and Vietnam War Army Veteran was a Purple Heart recipient for his valiant acts of bravery during his three tours in Vietnam. Jim is survived by his wife of 46 years, Stacey Gipson. He is also survived by his brothers Arthur Gipson, Virgil Gipson, his children Glenn Gipson, Phyllis Mayhew, Julie Blakeslee, Debbie Coats, William Woodring, Tabitha Lockwood, Roger Gipson, 24 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his mother Willie Gipson and father Jo Henry Gipson, his sisters Marion Jackson and Leola Rice, brothers Harvey James Gipson and Leon Gipson, children Kenneth J. Woodring and Daphne Washington. Jim appreciated quality time with family and friends, was great at sharing wisdom through long talks and loved a good laugh. He loved hunting, Fishing and old westerns. He loved BBQ, Motown and good whiskey, not necessarily in that order. He was consistent, wise and hardworking. Forgiving, gracious and full of generosity. He was loved and cherished by all who knew him. May the lakes in Heaven be clear, calm and full of fish.
