I was shocked and so sorry to hear about the loss of Jill to her family and community. Jill was a peer manager at Franciscan in the early days when we were both coming up. Over the years, she interacted frequently with Lab leaders due to her expertise in Human Resources and helped us manage many changes that impacted our staff. She was principled, decisive, competent and a true model of Franciscan values for me. I always remember her commitment to Alzheimer fundraising by raising teams to walk for the cause. She will obviously be very missed. Rest in Peace Jill.

Throughout my career at Franciscan, Jill Karon Ross was a constant. Early on she was a peer manager at another hospital but frequently interacted with my department due to her expertise in Human Resources over the years. She was principled, competent and decisive and a real model of Franciscan values. I also remember her for her commitment to Alzheimer fundraising by raising teams for the walks. I am so sorry for the loss of such a good person to her family and community.

Jill and I had a rough initial start to our relationship when she first came to St. Joe's, years ago. We disagreed strongly and frequently. Our Director encouraged us to meet and come to an agreement because we both had valuable qualities: Jill as the Director and me as an employee, and Union steward. We met.

From that time forward, we have trusted each other to be fair, honest and communicate. We didn't always agree, but it was mutually respectful - even when it was heated. (I have some funny stories that I'm willing to share with her family)

It evolved into trust and support. My Mom has Alzheimer's. Jill would sometimes ask and just give me a hug. She just knew. I will miss Jill greatly.

Jill and I have known each other since our days at Curtis Jr. High. We lost touch with each other after high school, but rekindled our friendship many years later in grad school.

Our paths kept crossing as we both worked as HR Leaders for Target and later for Franciscan Health. Jill hired me in 2007 as the LOA coordinator at St. Clare Hospital. I never imagined that we'd work together for the next 18 years!

I always appreciated Jill's straightforward approach in dealing with issues, but she did it with kindness and care.

There are too many memories of Jill to share here, but I will cherish every one and will miss Jill terribly.

My condolences to Rob and Hanni and the entire Ross/Karon family.

Jill and I were friends in elementary school. She even tried to teach me to roller skate in her garage, until I kept falling on my butt, and we were laughing too hard to continue.

As we grew older, we grew apart. We kept in touch from time to time on Facebook. I had moved to Texas, so I was not in town.

When my dad was hospitalized at Saint Joseph Hospital, he had been in a room without a working TV. That was his only comfort when we were unable to be there. I had made a post on Facebook expressing my frustration. Jill saw the post. She happened to work at Saint Joseph, and asked me to meet her for coffee the next day.

We met for coffee, caught up, and I explained the situation with my dad. He was getting very early signs of dementia, and even though he thought the KOMO anchors were pilots on a plane taking him somewhere, it gave him some comfort.

After Jill learned of the situation, she made some calls. Next thing I knew, dad had a working TV. She didn’t have to do this. It’s just one instance of her very kind heart.

I’m so glad to have met Jill, and have very fond memories of our childhood shenanigans. May you rest in peace, Jill. My condolences to the family.
