Beloved wife, mother, nana, sister, friend ~ Jessie Mae Jones, 79, of University Place, Washington, went to live with our Lord Jesus on Thursday, October 3, 2013. Jessie was born January 19, 1934, in Charleston, West Virginia, to the late William and Dorothy Blanch (Williams) Harris. Jessie was a 1952 graduate of East Bank High School. As the wife of an Airmen, she lived and moved across the United States and Europe. While in Alconbury, England, Jessie started her career in retail at the base Army and Air Force Exchange Service from which she retired after 23 years of service. Upon returning from England in 1987 the family settled in University Place where she has lived the past 26 years. Jessie is survived by her husband of 49 years Joseph Louis Jones; her children, Tabatha Harris and her husband Anthony, and Samantha Miller and her husband David. She is also survived by her sisters, Billie Harris Counts of Louisiana, Carolyn (Sue) Harris Bailey and her husband Ed of Connecticut, Mary Harris Shipp and her husband Tom of Ohio, Helen (Becky) Hancock of Virginia, and her brother, Paul Harris and his wife Suzanne of North Carolina. She is survived by five grandchildren who she adored, Antonia, Tia, David, Dawson and Taylor. She also leaves behind numerous loving family and friends. Jessie is predeceased by her brother, Leroy Edward Harris. Family, friends and grandchildren were Jessie’s passion and delight. She enjoyed meeting with friends at various church and work socials. She was an active member of Grace Gospel at Lewis North Chapel, Joint Base Lewis-McChord and took great joy in interacting with their youth. She was proud to have been baptized there. She enjoyed sightseeing and traveling to visit with her daughters and grandchildren. She loved shopping for both herself and spoiling her daughters and the grandkids. She enjoyed watching the squirrels and birds in her backyard, and her view of Mount Rainier from her patio. Jessie’s generous heart, beautiful spirit, and unconditional love will be missed by all. The family wishes to thank all those who cared for Jessie during her last few months, and Grace Gospel Chapel for their support and generosity. Visitation will be at Mountain View Funeral Home on Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Memorial services will be at Lewis North Chapel, Joint Base Lewis-McChord Saturday, 12 October, at 3:30 p.m.
