Jerzy "Dziadek" Karpunin's Obituary
Jerzy, known to family as “Dziadek” (granddaddy in Polish) passed from this earth to spiritual eternity on December 13, 2015, he was surrounded by family.
Jerzy, the older of two children, was born to the proud parents of Jerzy and Marya (Pietura) Karpunin on October 29, 1946 in Szczecin, Poland.
Jerzy came to the USA in 1991. Making the USA his home, he spent close to 40 years at sea working as a fisherman.
On December 12, 1968, Jerzy married Grazyna (Czwartinska). To this union a son was born; Radeslaw Karpunin. Jerzy passed away one day after his and Grazyna’s 47th wedding anniversary.
A quiet man of few words, Jerzy loved watching the history channel, loved to read; and liked listening to music. He spent his last four years enjoying his granddaughter, Skylar. She was his Mala, best friend and princess. His favorite food to feed her was chocolate cake for breakfast; and any other time of the day she wanted it. She had him wrapped around her fingers. His favorite song to listen to and sing with Skylar on their way home from child care was “Hallelujah” by Leonard Cohen. Though he was quiet, he was loved and will be missed.
Jerzy is preceded in death by his parents Jerzy and Marya Karpunin.
Jerzy is survived by his wife Garzyna Karpunin, Bonney Lake, WA; sons Artur (Maryola) Karpunin, GorzÓw, Poland; Radeslaw (Qianna) Karpunin, Bonney Lake, WA; brother Slavek Mazur, Szczecin, Poland. Three grandchildren: Agnieszka, Skylar and Baige Karpunin; a nephew, Jacob Mazur and a host of relatives and friends.
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God” Ephesians 2:8
