Jerry T. Williams' Obituary
It is with great sadness we announce that City of DuPont Museum Coordinator and long-time DuPont resident, Jerry Williams, passed away unexpectedly due to complications from cancer. Jerry’s roots ran deep in DuPont and so did his love and knowledge of its history. His grandfather worked at the DuPont Powder Works plant and raised a family in a tar paper house in Old Town and later in a home on Barksdale Ave in the Company Town village. His grandmother later ran a boarding house for bachelors who worked at the plant. Jerry served 42 years at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, winning many service awards. Jerry was also an avid Volksmarcher and led many history walks throughout DuPont. He was always a friendly face at the museum and eager to share his love of history with visitors. They say when an elder dies a library is lost. This is true with Jerry and more. We have also lost a great friend and a keeper of the Flame. He is survived by his wife Roz, her daughter Samara, his sister Judy, her children Clarissa (Dave) and Kimberly (Mike), and her grandchildren Joshua and Sara, as well as his adored kitties, Emmy and Ribbon.
