Jerry Bailes' Obituary
Jerry Paul Bailes
Jerry was born September 12, 1945 to Arvel and Icie Bailes in Wewoka, Oklahoma. He passed away November 1, 2011 in Olympia, Washington. He was 66 years old. Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Karen and their son, Nathan (Kyla) and granddaughter, Ariana; daughter, Kim Benedict; son, Paul Bailes; two sisters, Jane Broadus and Bonnie Hardman; two brothers, Don Bailes and Larry Bailes; many nieces and nephews.
Jerry served our country by enlisting in the U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Naval Reserve. He retired in 2007 from Pierce County IS Department. He enjoyed traveling with Karen in their 40 ft. 5th wheel seeing many parts of the country. He particularly loved camping at Ohanapecosh Campground in Mt. Rainier. He also enjoyed hunting with his buddy, Mike, and fishing with his brother, Larry and son, Nathan. He was totally devoted to his family; they were the love of his life. Jerry was a member of the Southside Church of Christ and served as a Deacon during the late 1980's and 1990's. He was very proud to serve in this capacity as he loved the Lord with all his heart.
Jerry will always be remembered by his family and friends as a bright light who loved life and who made this world a much better place to live. He will also be remembered for his teddy-bear hugs, and his gift of laughter.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, November 12 at 1:00 pm at the Orchard Street Church of Christ, 3601 South Orchard St., Tacoma, WA. A reception will be held immediately after the services in the fellowship room for a time of sharing our good memories of our husband, father, and friend. Arrangements by Mountain View Funeral Home 253-584-0252.
