Jerome J. Houston's Obituary
Jerome Houston passed away peacefully on December 3, 2013. He was born in Spokane, Washington 09 19, 1919 and attended Lincoln High School in Tacoma. He was employed at Todd Shipyards until joining the Navy during WWII. Afterwards, he was honorably discharged from the service and worked as a boilermaker eventually becoming a charter boat captain at Neah Bay. He then successfully ran his own salvage business for many years.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Shirley Houston. He is survived by sons Bart and Todd Houston and daughter Julie (Houston) Taylor; grandchildren Michelle, Tony Taylor and Sam Houston; Son in law Edward Taylor and Daughter-in-law Audrey A. Houston.
Jerome was extremely grateful to his son, Todd J. Houston for the tireless care he provided to his father, which allowed Jerome to remain in the family home. Todd devotedly attended to his father around the clock for the past 10 years. The family would also like to thank Marie McKenzie for the assistance she provided Todd in caring for Jerome as well as the staff of the Good Samaritan Hospital in his final two weeks. A private family service will be held.
