Mama Jenny had a beautiful soul. She was such a free spirited woman who was filled positive vibes. I met Jenny when her & her family had attended the same church as I. Her girls & I became great friends. The friendship turned us into family. Mama Jenny accepted me in her home & would always ask my parents if I could visit them every Sunday. The day I was promoting middle school to go to high school, my family weren’t able to attend - so I wasn’t expecting anything or anyone. My name was called & I walked across the stage, received my certificate & walked back down to my seat. After the ceremony, I hugged and congratulated my classmates then started heading outside to go home. I came to a stop when I saw Mama Jenny with her girls, holding flowers, balloons and candy leis; waiting for me. I cried with excitement. Mama Jenny then congratulated me & said “lets go to McDonalds to celebrate”. I will never forget that day. Jenny treated me as if I was her real daughter! I will never forget the love she has shown me. I’m going to stop here because I cannot control my tears as I type this.
To my beautiful Leifi family,
