Jeffrey Dean Morris' Obituary
Jeffrey Dean Morris, beloved Husband, Father and Grandfather, was born October 19th, 1941 in Tacoma, Washington to parents Cecil and Aideene Morris, and passed away peacefully in his home on July 20th, 2017.
Jeff was a Master Carpenter for more than fifty years. A true builder, he loved creating things for other people and was incredibly inventive, designing new construction methods, techniques, and solutions that those who worked with him would end up using. He was known for his phenomenal work ethic and could outwork anyone.
A graduate of Sumner High School’s Class of 1959, he was a lifetime resident of Bonney Lake up until a few years ago. He loved all of his friends from growing up in the Bonney Lake area and always enjoyed the annual get-togethers.
He loved traveling to Mexico as well as going to the movies. He and his wife Kathy would go together often, and one year when his son was a teenager, they saw over 150 films together, keeping reviews of each one.
Jeff loved children, animals, Linda Ronstadt, and Merrilee Rush. He also loved cars and kept a photo album of every car he ever owned.
In the past two months, he was finally convinced to trade his flip phone in for an iPhone and he and Siri fought all the time, the arguments often laced with profanity, up until his passing.
He cared deeply for his family and passionately pursued what would make them happy. He kept every magazine, newspaper, or video mention of his children and their accomplishments throughout their lives. No project with his son was too difficult; he spent countless weeks searching for an Evel Knievel stunt cycle toy from the 70s and kept looking until he found one for David, who was enamored with the stunt rider. This is a perfect showing of the type of father he was. Another time, Jeff spent weeks going from flea market to flea market to get all the right pieces for a JP Patches costume, and David won all the local Halloween costume contests because the attire was so exact.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Kathy Morris; son David J. Morris; step-sons Michael Hernandez and Richard Hernandez; grandchildren Dillon, Hannah, and Rogue Morris, and Channer Hernandez; brothers, Garry Morris and Mike Morris and his two kitties, Josie and Oreo.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, August 3rd at 2:30pm at Mountain View Funeral Home and Memorial Park in Lakewood, Washington.
