Jeffrey R Iafrati's Obituary
Jeff Ronald Iafrati, beloved father, brother, and grandfather, passed away on August 18, 2025, surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Vicenza, Italy on June 8, 1960, to John and Ruth lafrati.
Jeff was a man of remarkable skill and dedication, building a lifelong career in fabrication, design, and project management. After graduating from Clover Park Technical College in 1978, where he specialized in Airframe Mechanics, Aircraft Maintenance Technology, Welding, and Nondestructive Inspection, Jeff began his professional journey as a Welder at Ideal Machines in Tacoma, Washington.
In 1982, he joined Lear Siegler Services Inc. at Joint-Base Lewis McChord, where he served as Fabrication and Design Site Manager for 22 years. His leadership and technical expertise left a lasting impact on the teams he worked with. In 2005, Jeff continued his career at Skookum Contract Services as a Project and Site Manager, where for 15 years he was instrumental in acquiring and managing multiple military contracts across the United States, including Ft. Meade, Maryland; Ft. Pickett, Virginia; and Joint-Base Lewis McChord. He retired from Skookum in 2020, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, service, and mentorship.
In retirement, Jeff remained active in his community, taking on the role of Maintenance Supervisor at a local condominium complex. In this position, he applied his decades of technical knowledge and leadership to oversee building operations, ensure the safety and comfort of residents, and coordinate repairs and preventative maintenance. His approachable nature and dedication to quality work earned the trust of homeowners and staff alike, further reflecting his lifelong commitment to service and excellence.
Beyond his career, Jeff was known for his love of the outdoors and time spent with family. He enjoyed golf, fishing, boating, camping, and repairing cars. A devoted Mariners and Seahawks fan, Jeff could often be found cheering on his teams. From his youth, he had a knack for tinkering in the garage, a passion that stayed with him throughout his life. Most of all, Jeff cherished family outings and gatherings, where his presence brought warmth and joy.
Jeff was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ruth lafrati, and his brother Jerry lafrati. He is survived by his children, Jonathan, Brian, and Stephanie lafrati; his grandchildren, Nea, Jayvon, and Finley; his brothers, John lafrati Sr. and wife Helen, Joe lafrati and wife Lynn, and James lafrati; and his nephews and niece, John lafrati Jr., Mitchell, and Layne lafrati.
A private family celebration will be held in honor of Jeff's life. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate caregivers at First Family Home Care in Gig Harbor for the wonderful care they provided.
Jeff will be remembered as a loving father, brother, and grandfather whose legacy of kindness, strength, and dedication will live on in all who knew him.
