Jeanne Marcella Wolford's Obituary
Jeanne M. (Horn) Wolford, born November 24, 1925, at Tacoma, WA, passed away on December 30, 2022 after a long and full life at age 97. Jeanne was a firm believer in education, graduating from Lincoln High School and earning an associate degree from Tacoma Community College. She continued her quest in education serving as President of the McKinley PTA for several years. Later, she found her real niche in working as a cook in food service for the Tacoma Public Schools.
She married Raymond M. Horn in 1945 and during their 42 year marriage were blessed with and raised three sons. After Raymond passed in 1987, Jeanne married Robert Wolford in 1991. Robert passed away in 2007.
Religion was a very important part of her life. Raised in the Friends Church as a child, she remained a staunch Christian all of her life.
Jeanne became very active in the local community as a member of the Tacoma/Puyallup Fuchsia Society, Orting Eagles, Tacoma Elks, Take Off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS), and Parent-Teacher Association. She served as President of the Puyallup Fuchsia Society, TOPS and Lady Eagles of Orting.
Jeanne was best known for her loving and caring disposition. She was always willing to help someone out in time of need as evidenced by the two foster children she cared for.
She was preceded in death by Raymond Horn (husband), Robert Wolford (husband), Virginia Wood (sister), and Randy Wood (nephew). She is survived by her three sons Ray (Irene) of Ridgefield, WA, Robert of Preston, WA, Ben (Joy) of Olympia, WA, nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and Tracy Wood, her niece.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. in the Garden Chapel at Mountain View Memorial Park, 4100 Steilacoom Blvd. SW, Lakewood, WA. Donations may be made to your favorite charity in her name.
