Jeanne Werner-Spaulding's Obituary
Born February 15, 1934 in Buffalo, North Dakota, Jeanne H Werner-Spaulding, formerly Jeanne Werner, passed away peacefully
on November 5, 2023 in Tacoma Washington. She is survived by
her husband, Ralph Spaulding, three children, Denise (Jeff)
McVicker, Steve (Nann) Werner, Lisa (Angie) Werner, and two
brothers, Ron and Jerry Waite. Jeanne was well known in the Tacoma business community having held many responsible positions
in the banking industry. She is probably best remembered as the
Director of the Humane Society for Tacoma and Pierce County,
having served in that capacity for many years. In total, she served
the society for over 30 years, most of them as the director. She is
credited with the ideas, fund raising, design guidance, and construction monitoring of the two-story building now housing the
society. She was a great supporter of SAWA, the Society for Animal Welfare Administrators, an active member of Rotary, and
served for many years on the board of directors for the Tapco
Credit Union. She loved boating and was a past Commodore of
the Puget Sound Fleet of the International Yachting Fellowship of
Rotarians (IYFR). She and her husband spent many summers on
their yacht in the San Juan Islands and the Desolation Sound area
in Canada. There will be no service, but donations and contributions in her name may be made to the Humane Society for Tacoma and Pierce County.
