Jean Marie Wanner Swenson's Obituary
Jean Marie Baker Wanner Swenson
Jean Marie passed away Thursday, May 10th, in Tacoma at the Weatherly Inn. She was a Grand Dame of 90. She was the loving daughter of Gene and Margaret Baker, and the adored sister of Billie Riggle, all of whom have preceded her in death.
Jean Marie had two devoted husbands, Sylvester Wanner and Marv Swenson, both of whom have also preceded her in death. She is survived by her son Garry and his wife Karin. She was Grandma Turtle to two terrific grandsons, Jason and Ryan, and their families. Jean Marie also had a close relationship with her devoted nieces and nephew, Robin, Becky and Jess, and their families.
My Mom had some amazing friends and an exceptionally joyous life. Her best friend and favorite partner-in-crime for over 70 years was Betty Crounse.
She retired from the Tacoma Public School system, where she spent 20 years as a senior staff secretary. Mom developed a love of travel, Broadway musicals, and live stage. She and Marv were season ticket holders of the Tacoma Little Theater and Cheney Stadium.
She is remembered as a vibrant, gracious, fun-loving friend to all whose lives she touched.
We invite everyone to celebrate her life Monday, May 21, 2012, at the Mountain View Funeral Home and Memorial Park. There will be a church and grave site service followed by a "Celebration of Life" that is befitting of her 90 years of living life to the fullest.
Mom, I was lucky to have you as a best friend. We were all blessed to have known you. You were dearly loved and you will be greatly missed. Be sure to call, Mom, if you have any words of wisdom that you would like communicated during your service.
